Start the Year off on the Right Paw - Become your own Boss in the Pet Industry that you Love!

    Shure Pets Gazette
The Premier Direct Seller of Pet Products
    Volume V, January 2007

    Dear Passionate Pet Lover~

All indicators show that both the pet and direct selling industries achieved record revenues in 2006. Both industries experienced incredible growth over the last ten years, doubling their respective sales in the US market. We too have broken all sales records and added a record number of new Pet Consultants to our business over the last twelve months. I would like to welcome all new Pet Consultants and your customers to the Shure Pets team.

The new year gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the past and work towards the future. I encourage each of you to set goals for 2007 with your Shure Pets business and let me know how I can personally help you achieve your goals. Please email or call me with your thoughts at andrew.shure@shurepets.com or 1.888.SHURE.PETS (1.888.748.7373). I look forward to hearing from you.

Last year we introduced a number of new initiatives to our business which were designed to help you grow and monitor your team’s activity, including the introduction of our backend software. I encourage each of you to share your replicated website with your friends and customer base. This year we will be introducing a number of new initiatives to help you grow your business throughout the year. Please note we will be amending our schedule for Shure Pets University (SPU) so classes will take place on a quarterly basis (more information below). I encourage each of you to attend these sessions. In addition, we will be introducing a conference call on the first Tuesday of the month for all prospective Pet Consultants. The conference calls take place at 7:00 PM Eastern Time and are led by myself and the members of “The Pound”. Please let your prospects know about this call and please RSVP to Kristina.meyer@shurepets.com for inclusion. We look forward to your participation.

In just over three years we have created the cat- egory of selling pet products through home parties, and today we are the nation’s leading provider. Our company continues to be recognized by the media worldwide for our innovation and leadership. Please see our “In the News” section of shurepets.com for the latest coverage.

Our only requirement at Shure Pets is a passion for pets! I look forward to working with each of you this year. Have a safe and fruitful New Year.

    Shure Pets Fundraisers
Putting the "Fun" back in Fundraising

The Shure Pets fundraising program continues to increase in visibility and ability to help needy organizations raise funds in a unique, fun, social manner. To set up your Shure Pets fundraiser, please contact your local Pet Consultant and let them know your organization's name, mailing address, 501(c) tax ID#, and start and end date of your fundraiser (up to one month). There is a $4.00 charge to set up a fundraiser. The fundraising group will earn 25% commission of all items sold, while the Pet Consultant associated with the event will earn 10% commission. The fundraiser opportunity is not limited to pet organizations and can be utilized by any 501(c) organization.

Once your Pet Consultant has the required in-fur- mation regarding your fundraiser, The Shure Pets office can create a purr-sonalized webpage for the organization (including a biography and picture regarding the group). Customers can log onto the fundraising group's webpage and place orders as needed 24/7 until the conclusion of the fundraiser.

Fundraisers are a fun way to share the Shure Pets product line and pet knowledge with new customers, make new friends and bring passionate pet lovers together. We have been able to help so many organizations in the past including: Animal Aid. With the funds raised, Animal Aid says, "we can do four cat spays or five neuters or we can purchase three 20 lb. bags of high quality food along with 150 cans of food. The last option would be to purchase 409 bags of litter."

Thank you Jennifer K. (#821 Portland, OR) for helping provide the in-fur-mation regarding this successful fundraiser.

Thank you from the bottom of my paws, David E. Feld, Shure Pets (david.feld@shurepets.com)

    Shure Pets In The News

Nadene Pet Consultant of the Month: Nadene H. (#708)
    Profile of Success!

Nadene H. (#708 Grand Forks, ND) actually calls Chico, California home, however both her and her husband are on active duty with the Air Force, currently stationed at Grand Forks AFB, ND. Nadene has lived in North Dakota for just over four years with her husband Chris and their beloved dog Roscoe (a four year old Shih Tzu also known as "Rotten Roscoe"). Nadene states, "He's the baby of the family and definitely spoiled rotten! I have been a Shure Pets Consultant since August 2005. I first heard about Shure Pets from a friend of mine who knew I had a passion for pets. I sent away for an in-fur-mation packet and the rest is history!"

"Being a Shure Pets Consultant has been quite an adventure for me. When I originally signed up I was not looking at it as a 'business' opportunity. I just thought it seemed liked something 'fun' to do and something that I would really enjoy doing. Well now almost a year and a half later, I'm still having fun as well as enjoying what I do. However, my Shure Pets business is growing into bigger puppy paws every day. I was the first Pet Consultant in this area but I'm happy to report I am now the proud team leader of the "Something to Bark About" team and we're spreading the Shure Pets name all around this grand town."

"On most days I find myself coming home from work and from the moment I come through the door, it's on to my next job. I can work all day at the office and then come home and work on my Shure Pets business all night and never grow tired of it. I refer to Shure Pets as my 'fun job'!" I look forward to when we retire and I can work on my Shure Pets business full time.

"I would have to say that my favorite part about being a Pet Consultant is all of the people I have met along the way. I have made a lot of really good friends who share the same passion for pets that I do, and that's what makes this job so FUN! I also really enjoy the in-home Pet Parties. It's a fun time for Roscoe and I both to spend with friends (both two and four-legged) and it gives Roscoe a chance to try out all the wonder-fur products. I have also found that by doing various local events is a good way to meet new people and also make a few contacts along the way!"

"My advice to new recruits would be this: use the Shure Pets chat room and files. I'm a firm believer of 'Why re-invent the wheel'? There is a lot of helpful and very useful in-fur-mation out there as well as a lot of knowledgeable Consultants who are more than willing to help! If you work hard and be persistent, your efforts will eventually pay off. Stick with it and most of all - HAVE FUN!"

"Finally, a special thanks to THE SHURE PETS POUND for selecting me as consultant of the month for JANUARY 2007! You made my year already! Thank you David and Kristina for all of your help and support along the way; and of course thank you Andrew, as none of us would be here without you. I look forward to working with SHURE PETS for many years to come."

The above image is of Nadene, her husband Chris and 'Rotten Roscoe'.

    Purr-fect Pet Health Tips
    -source: ASPCA

Why are garlic and onions bad for our pets? Garlic and onions (including garlic and onion powders) can cause anemia in our companion animals (felines tend to be more sensitive than dogs). Most pet foods do not contain enough garlic or onions to affect a healthy animal; however, there have been several instances in which kittens were fed baby food that contained onion or garlic powder and developed anemia. Please be "shure" not to feed any products containing garlic or onions to any young, sick or debilitated pet.

How much does a new pet cost? The cost associated with a pet can greatly vary. All animals require food and shelter, and most should have regular visits to a veterinarian for health checkups and vaccinations. Depending on the type and breed of animal you select, other costs to consider include emergency medical treatment, grooming, boarding, licensing, obedience training, toys, treats and accessories. Pet Health Insurance for unexpected illnesses or injuries is available in many states (http://www.petsbest.com/landing/shurepets.aspx).

Should I bring my dog to work? Assuming your canine is allowed in your office environment, there are still some issues to be aware of. Only bring your dog if he is properly socialized, well-behaved and trained. Your pooch must be able to get along with other people (and potentially pets), and must not bark, fight, or misbehave. Be "shure" he has a food and water bowl, some toys (no noisy squeakers), a blanket/bed and some treats. You will also want to bring a clean-up kit just in case your friend has an accident. Finally, keep your dog confined to your office space- some people are not fond of dogs or may be allergic.
