| Pet Consultant of the Month
Kari R. (#2337) lives with her husband, Ray, and their "son" Squirt (a 2 year old Yorkie) in downtown Orlando, Florida. She is a professional, classically trained vocalist. In addition to performing in various musical engagements, Kari works part-time for Junior Achievement.
Kari found Shure Pets online in November 2007 when she was researching new ways to generate extra income, as she continued to pursue a full-time music career. With the guidance of Carol Caito, she signed on as an official New Pet Consultant in early January 2008. Within two weeks of becoming a Pet Consultant, Kari was blessed to sign her first recruit, Lisa S. (#2356), who lives in Leesburg, Florida, about 45 minutes Northwest of Orlando. Currently, Kari is the only active Shure Pets Independent Consultant residing in Orlando and is excited to partner with Lisa as they continue to "Bark up" Shure Pets around Central Florida. Here at the Pound, we have been very impressed by how Kari and Lisa epitomize enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork as they strive to build their businesses. Kari believes Team CFL will be a dynamite success because of their dedication to customers' needs and emphasis on teamwork!
When asked what is the best part of being a Pet Consultant, Kari says, "I love the interaction with other pet lovers and their pets and am proud to offer them environmentally-safe, fur-tastic products."
Thanks Kari! We look forward to continued success with you! |

Doggie Dictionary |
-
Leash: A strap which attaches to your collar, enabling you to lead your person where you want him/her to go.
-
Dog Bed: Any soft, clean surface, such as the white bedspread in the guest room or the newly upholstered couch in the living room.
-
Drool: A liquid which, when combined with sad eyes, forces humans to give you their food. To do this properly you must sit as close as you can and get the drool on the human.
-
Sniff: A social custom used to greet other dogs, similar to the human exchange of business cards.
-
Garbage Can: A container which your neighbors put out once a week to test your ingenuity. You must stand on your hind legs and try to push the lid off with your nose. If you do it right you are rewarded with margarine wrappers to shred, beef bones to consume and moldy crusts of bread.
-
Bicycles: Two-wheeled exercise machines, invented for dogs to control body fat. To get maximum aerobic benefit, you must hide behind a bush and dash out, bark loudly and run alongside for a few yards; the person then swerves and falls into the bushes, and you prance away.
-
Deafness: This is a malady which affects dogs when their person wants them in and they want to stay out. Symptoms include staring blankly at the person, then running in the opposite direction, or lying down.
-
Thunder: This is a signal that the world is coming to an end. Humans remain amazingly calm during thunderstorms, so it is necessary to warn them of the danger by trembling uncontrollably, panting, rolling your eyes wildly, and following at their heels.
-
Wastebasket: This is a dog toy filled with paper, envelopes, and old candy wrappers. It is important to evenly distribute its contents throughout the house before your person comes home.
-
Bath: If you find something especially good to roll in, humans get jealous and use this degrading form of torture to get even. Be sure to shake only when next to a person or a piece of furniture.
-
Lean: Every good dog's response to the command "sit!", especially if your person is dressed for an evening out. Incredibly effective before black-tie events.
-
Bump: The best way to get your human's attention when they are drinking a fresh cup of coffee or tea.
-
Goose Bump: A maneuver to use as a last resort when the regular Bump doesn't get the attention your require ... especially effective when combined with The Sniff. See above.
-
Children: Short humans of optimal petting height. Standing close to one assures some good petting. When running they are good to chase. If they fall down, they are comfortable to sit on.
-
Love: A feeling of intense affection, given freely and without restriction. The best way you can show your love is to wag your tail. If you're lucky, a human will love you in return. |

The press continues to recognize us on our unique business model and being the cat-egory innovator and nation's leading provider of pet products through home parties. Chicago's #1 lifestyle TV show "190 North" (an ABC affiliate) taped a Pet Party that I hosted on Wednesday March 5, 2008. The segment is set to air on March 16 at 10:35 PM and on March 27 at 11:00 PM Central Time on ABC7 Chicago (we will post the show on our site after the run date for everyone to view) .
We are in a very unique segment of the economy. A recent article in The New York Times stated, "Looking for a growth industry? Look no further than pet products and services. Americans spent an estimated $40.8 billion on their pets last year, up from $29.5 billion just five years earlier, according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers, a trade group." The article goes on to say that "People are lavishing that money on a pet population"..."It's a financial commitment that shows that more pets have become full-fledged members of the family" (Korkki, Phyllis, The New York Times, 1/13/08).
At Shure Pets, we understand the dynamics of the economy and appreciate that a number of you maybe seeking ways to earn supplemental income and be your own boss in a profession that you love. I am pleased to announce a number of new initiatives that we introduced this month that will help you reach your goals: 1) we added a new "bone-us" to our compensation program, and 2) we created a new package of products for hostesses.
Our Pet Parties are a fun, educational, and rewarding environment. We also have developed programs including our "Business Builder" program that caters to those who are interested in "developing a business" with Shure Pets. If you are interested in learning more about Shure Pets, hosting a Pet Party, or becoming a Pet Consultant, please contact me at andrew.shure@shurepets.com.
I look forward to working with you.

Regards,
Andrew Shure

Purr-fect Pet Health Tips

Problematic Parasites:
A common misconception is that fleas and other parasites are not a problem in the winter. This is not the case. The fact is, your pets may be exposed to parasites more often than you think in the winter. Here's why:
- The onset of mosquito or flea season is impossible to predict.
- Midwinter warm spells can produce ideal conditions for fleas to emerge.
- Under the right environmental conditions, fleas can survive, and even reproduce, indoors during the winter.
- Whipworm and roundworm eggs are extremely resilient, surviving in the soil in the coldest conditions.
Your pets should be protected from parasites year-round - even in the winter. As winter continues, enjoy all that the season brings. Just be sure your pet enjoys it as well. Here are some tips:
- If you're using a flea preventive, use it year-round. Weather patterns are unpredictable, and flea season can start before you're ready. Under the right conditions, fleas can survive and even reproduce indoors during the winter. Don't give fleas even the smallest gap - use a flea preventive every month.
- All pets in your house should be treated for fleas. If you have more than one pet, treat them ALL for fleas. Fleas can reproduce and thrive on an untreated pet, undermining your efforts of treating your other pets.
- Be aware of pesticides. If you should choose to use a pesticide, carefully read all labels -- especially if you have small children. Strictly adhere to the recommended guidelines to minimize the risks to your pet, your family and the environment.

"Barks of Approval"
Testimonials
"Just thought I'd pass along what one of my party hostesses said about the life bowl. She ordered 2 large bowls for her Golden Retrievers, and after she received them and used them, she told me she should be the 'poster child' for this product. She put the dog food in the bowl, and one of the dogs just stood there and looked at the bowl. As she encouraged him, he gradually put his head down, but kept looking up at her to see if it was ok...talk about slowing down the pace of eating! She said these bowls were her favorites out of all the stuff she ordered at the party."
-Jill F. (#1748, Toledo, OH)
"I only use Shure Pets shampoos on my dogs! They are the best!!"
-Deb B. (#1488, St. Francis, MN)
"I just wanted to let all of you know that this past weekend I was at a dog show and used some of the Shure Pets shampoos, conditioners, spritzers, emu oil, paw balm, and treats. THEY WORK!!!...My dogs' coats were clean and shiny. I cleaned the coats with the Paramount Emu Oil Shampoo, I followed up with the Paramount Bright White Shampoo on the Dalmation, and the Paramount Dazzling Dark Shampoo on the Manchester, I then sprayed the dogs with the Paramount Emu Oil Spray, and the Paramount Aromutt Therapy Spritzers...what beautiful coats emerged! The paw balm was great, the dogs didn't slip while going around the ring. I am going to spread the news to all of my fellow dog handlers."
-Elud A. (#2277, Commerce City, CO)
Pet Consultant Kristina A. (#1994, Citrus Heights, CA) was "absolutely awesome"..."she was really great"..."everyone loved their products!"
-Noel S. (party hostess)
"Everyone is so helpful, and the products are great!"
-Deb B. (#1488, St. Francis, MN)
"I just heard from a lady who bought a bottle of the Ideal Oatmeal Shampoo for the first time about a month ago. Her dog has terrible skin problems and her regular vet was not even able to help him. So she is driving a long distance every week to see a holistic vet...My customer tried the Oatmeal Shampoo because it is all natural and organic and would mesh well with the holistic program. I also pointed out that it has the fewest ingredients of all our 'problem skin' shampoos. She says she loves it, and she just ordered the gallon size. She says it lathers up really well, so she can let it sit on the dog for 5 minutes before rinsing. Also, she does not worry about the dog licking it off because it will not hurt him. And even though his skin problems are not gone, she said she loves that the shampoo leaves his fur so soft and silky."

Bone-us Trivia
March's Question:
What was the name of the dog on the popular cartoon show The Jetsons?
Please email info@shurepets.com with your trivia answer. A winner will be selected at random from all correct responses to receive FREE Shure Pets Products! The correct answer to this issue's Bone-us Trivia will be printed in next month's Pet Gazette.
The February trivia question was: The first known cat to live in the White House belonged to which President? Although we had many responses, Diana S. (#1768) was the selected winner with the correct response of Abraham Lincoln and received a special Shure Pets prize. Good luck to everyone participating in March's trivia contest! |
