Dear Pet Lover~
I am very pleased to officially introduce our new Summer 2006 Cat-alog. We have increased our product line by over 25%, offering new products for our pets and for the pet lover in all categories (including new breeds).
Our sales continue to reach new records as well. Last month, sales were over 70% greater than the prior year's period. We are also pleased to report that we signed up 40% more Pet Consultants in April 2006 versus April 2005; this after a record March. I would like to warmly welcome all new Pet Consultant and your customers to the Shure Pets team. We look forward to working with each of you in the months and years to come.
We are in the process of working on the final details for our upcoming Jam-fur-ee event titled ?Taking Flight?. The event will occur in Chicago on August 18-20. The Jam-fur-ee is our annual meeting and all active Pet Consultants are encouraged to attend. We named this year?s event ?Taking Flight? to reflect our position as beginning to grow into our puppy paws and the sky being the limit, as well as the coordination of the Chicago Air and Water Show that will be held the same weekend.
The Jam-fur-ee serves as an excellent opportunity to network with members of ?The Pound?, other Pet consultants, discuss your Shure Pets business, trends in the pet industry and the direct selling industry and recognize those that have excelled with their business over the year. An itinerary will follow. Last year's event was a huge success and I look forward to meeting all of you this summer.
Finally, we are in the process of completing phase III of the backend software. I am certain that once we launch this phase to our Pet Consultants that you and your customers will be pleased. During the interim period, I would like to encourage each of you to use your Summer Cat-alogs. We are in a position to ship all Cat-alog requests at once. We are committed to offering the best in new products and the best in technology to help you grow your business.

Pet Consultant of the Month: Susan B. (#474)
Susan B. (#474) has over 25 years in retail management/sales experience and is currently in the restaurant/catering industry. Due to the long hours and her irregular schedules, Susan hasn't had a dog of her own in a few years. Susan is originally from Tennessee but lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She states, "Even though I went to college at Auburn, my two most favorite college football mascots are from the SEC: Smokey (University of Tennessee) and UGA from (University of Georgia). I think I'd pay big bucks to have a photo opportunity with UGA!"
"I have been with Shure Pets for one year. As I've had more than my fair share of retail, I did a search one and a half years ago on home based businesses. All the usuals appeared (i.e. candles, baskets, make up, jewelry etc.) I ordered information on all of them. The products were okay, but I really wanted something that others were not doing. I wondered, is there something Pet-related in a home based business? Again, I searched the web but was more specific- and there it was: Shure Pets! Several months down the road, I said to myself, "I have nothing to lose." $99 was a small price to pay to get started, and the worse thing that could happen is that I'd have pet products which can always be used."
"I'm working my Shure Pets business part-time. I have participated in several fundraisers as well as doing the party circuit. I believe my first party was $900 retail, and I recently hit the $4,500 level, plus I have several recruits on my team. Currently I am advertising in the Metro Atlanta Women's Directory, and will be the feature and on the front cover for August. I drive my 'Petmobile' everyday advertising that you can have an ultimutt, purr-sonalized, Shop at Home Experience by Hosting A Pet Party."
"What pleases me tremendously with Shure Pets is the efficiency and friendliness of the corporate office. With the phenomenal growth in the past year, I'm amazed at how "on top of things" they stay. Communication with them is always pleasant and supportive. I feel this business is no fail, as most of America is composed of pet lovers. I can't wait to see the Summer Cat-alog."
The above photo is of Susan with Calleigh, formerly her foster (Katy).

Shure Pets Barks of Approval
"The Paw Balm (#129) is my biggest seller....I LOVE IT! My best friend has a Husky and a Boxer and the vet said that they were digging and licking and biting at their paws because of allergies...She bought some [Shure Pets] Paw Balm after hearing me go on and on about it and they have stopped messing with their paws! I firmly believe in the Paw Balm!" Laura S. (#795 Nevada, OH).
"I have been using the Horse Coat Dressing (#131) and it is REALLY good on the tail and mane. We just recently bought an ill cared for Tennessee Walker. He was fed and housed but NEVER brushed and his tail and mane had what looked like dread-locks. Anyway, it's been too cold to give him a bath so I just started using the dressing on his tail and mane. That stuff works great!!! After using it for a while, all I do now is just spray and the brush goes right through all that hair -- his tail touches the ground -- so we are talking about a lot of hair." Rebecca B. (#332 Huntsville, AL).
"Last month, I em'barked' on a new adventure as a Pet Consultant. I have been wanting to express to you how impressed I am with the tremendous amount of support that is offered from the Corporate office and my fellow peer Pet Consultants. Your weekly letters are read with great anticipation. Shure Pets has enabled me to convey the passion and dedication that I have for pets with others. For those of us who share special relationships with our pets, we understand what it means to be loved unconditionally. Our pets love us, believe in us, and greet us with enthusiasm all the time, no matter what. I look forward to all that Shure Pets has to offer as well as contributing all that I can to help Shure Pets continue to grow. Hopefully my passion and dedication will be passed on to other pet lovers. Thank you for taking your dream and passion to another level and starting Shure Pets. I am thrilled to be apart of such a unique and specialized business." Meghan G. (#1118 Mechanicsburg, PA).

Purr-fect Pet Questions and Answers
Q: Why do cats scratch?: A: This is a natural behavior with several reasons. The most obvious is that it sharpens the cat?s claws. Studies have also shown that it is to communicate with other cats. By leaving obvious marks on the same objects (trees, couches etc.) the cat is telling others where he is and what he has been doing. Cats also have scent glands on their paws so they are leaving odor cues behind for other cats.
Q: What causes hairballs in a cat? A: Because cats lick and clean themselves regularly they swallow a lot of hair. This hair is normally expelled through the digestive system. However, occasionally the hair gathers in the stomach or intestine and forms a dense ball which cannot pass through the digestive system.
Q: Why do pets roll in the dirt? A: There are several possible reasons for this behavior. One reason is that it helps to mask the animal?s real scent, which helps protect from predators. Additionally, the action of rolling also loosens hair, aiding in shedding.
