    Shure Pets In The News

Valerie Pet Consultant of the Month: Valerie T.

Valerie T. (#0292 Kingston, IL) lives with her husband Scott in Northern Illinois, along with Kaycee their German Shepherd. Valerie proudly boasts, "She is the pretty dog in the picture frame on page 23 of the Shure Pets Summer 2005 Cat-alog. I now have a real good reason to show off the Cat-alog, I tell people 'look, my dog is a model!' It is a great ice breaker".

Valerie first heard about Shure Pets when she was thinking one day what a neat idea it would be to offer home parties for pet products. In September of 2004, she did a Google search and found Shure Pets and was very excited. "I viewed the Shure Pets website from front to back and made up my mind right away that this opportunity was for me."

Valerie explains, "I am very excited to be a part of the Shure Pets growth and I think this company will go far. I love the fact that this business is so versatile, I can do Pet Parties, vendor booths and fundraisers and I can do them at my pace. The only person I have to answer to is myself. I hope to someday make Shure Pets my full time career!"

Valerie adds, "I have always wanted to work in the pet industry but never had the opportunity to do so. Shure Pets is helping make my dream a reality. I just can't believe the fun I am having, I have made some great friends nationwide and I am meeting new people and their pets at the events I do. Who could ask for more than that? I have found that to be successful you first have to love what you do, and you need to spread the word. For me I have found that having a vendor booth at some of the local dog shows has really helped me meet the right crowd. It is very exciting to have someone come up to you and say "I want to have a "Pet Party" for my club". Also, my husband has been very supportive of my new venture and for that I thank him".

And we would like to thank Valerie for the grr-eat job she has done with her business and spreading the word about Shure Pets across the nation.

    Shure Pets Barks of Approval

"I have used Shure Pets products on my greyhound Reilly with EXCELLENT results! I used the Medicated Shampoo (#101) and followed it up with the Cream Rinse Conditioner (#109). I've tried all the Spritzers (#105-#108, #119 and #120) on her and none of them irritated her skin. She's devoured the Caillou's Bone Treats (#205) that came with the Starter Kit...These grooming and beauty products get the "thumbs up" from me." Gabriella C. (#0370 Stanhope, NJ).

"I had $423.00 in sales for my first Pet Party. My goal was $400.00 so I am very pleased. [The dogs at the party] had so much fun playing together and everyone seemed to like the products. I booked another Pet Party last night too so I feel like this is a good beginning. I am a very happy [Shure Pets] newbie pup." Dione G. (#0537 Jacksonville Beach, FL).

"I got my Dog Scrapbook (#613D) today. It is too cute...I can't wait to show it to my scrapbookin' friends." Janet L. (#0662 Lockport, NY).

"For anyone who hasn't tried the Dog Vitamins, I highly recommend them! I started giving them to my two dogs last week. One of them (Jack) is a 7 year old Rottweiler. He weighs 130 lbs, he's not overweight - just big. Anyway, he's been getting up a lot slower lately and limping because he's getting older and his hips are starting to bother him, he even started to whine once in a while when getting up because his hips would hurt. I have been giving him the [Shure Pets] Vitamins for less than a week now and I was able to tell a huge difference within just a few days. He isn't getting up slow, he hasn't whined once, he's not limping, and he has actually been running around barking, asking for treats, and he has A LOT more energy. One of the best things about these Vitamins is that the dogs LOVE them! They just can't get enough. They are awesome and very worth it." Tricia P. (#0424 Rapid City, SD)

"So far every Shure Pets product I've tried is awesome, they are such high quality." Jaime O. (#0492 Fresno, CA).

    Tips for Purr-fect Pet Health

Pet Pad Pain: The pads on the bottom of canine's feet are, indeed, very sensitive. Be careful because it is an area that is prone to injury, especially if your pet frequently moves across rough surfaces (the pads may get worn down or cut). Additionally, in the winter, you will want to prevent your dog’s feet from being damaged by the salt and ice, which can cause the pads to dry out and crack. Paramount Paw Balm (#129) can help make "shure" your pet's feet are not cracked and will reduce the pain associated with cuts.

Chocolate No No: Is chocolate really bad for dogs? Yes, chocolate is toxic and contains methylxanthine alkaloids in that cause constriction of arteries, increased heart rate, and central nervous system stimulation. In a dog, these effects can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, and increased urinations. More advanced symptoms of toxicity can include excitability, increased and heartbeat, stiffness, and exaggerated reflexes. People stop eating chocolate before ingesting toxic levels, but a dog might not know when to cease consumption. If your dog has gotten into chocolate, you should note the type and amount eaten, and then call your veterinarian for recommendations. A good substitute for chocolate for your dog is carob. Shure Pets Ultimutt Candy Bar (#214) and Carob Chip Caillou's Bone Treats (#205C) are alternatives to chocolate treats.

Cat in the Bag: Cats generally like things that are lightweight, make delicate noises and allow them to hide. Therefore, it is normal and healthy for cats to jump in and out of bags and boxes to express their curiosity and allow them to feel confined in small spaces. Kitty Krinkle Sack (#814) will provide your feline with hours of entertainment as well as a shelter and sleeping quarters.
