    Volume IV, August 2006

    Dear Pet Lover~

I am pleased to report that after months of intense programming, the Shure Pets backend software system went "live" on Monday July 17, 2006. We are pleased with the features of the software and remain confident that we are providing our Pet Consultants with the latest and greatest in technology. We added to our website (shurepets.com) a zip code "look up" that channels inquires directly to your personal replicated websites. I would like to encourage each of you to share your url with your family, friends and members of your community. Your ability to create an awareness of your website will greatly enhance the traffic and business activity that you will enjoy. Please keep in mind your site is open for business 24/7 (including weekend and hoildays). You will also be able to process your orders, review your team sales and see your genealogy as needed. We believe that this tool will add to your productively significantly. We have set up an email address to answer any questions: support@shurepets.com.

Also, this month we will be hosting our 2nd annual convention entitled the "Jam-fur-ee". We have planned a weekend of activities that will coincide with the Chicago Air & Water Show. The theme of this year?s event is ?Taking Flight?. We are excited with our growth this year and believe that we are well positioned to enjoy future growth. I look forward to meeting everyone in Chicago.

The summer heat has affected all of us. Please be considerate of your pets, children and the elderly during the extreme summer heat. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you.

Back-end Software: We have created a backend software system to help our Pet Consultants and revolutionize the way Shure Pets business is conducted. This software includes easier and more efficient order entry, tracking of your own sales, tracking of your team sales and recruits, Pet Party and Fundraiser order entry (fundraisers are set up as their own webpages), online enrollment, your own purr-sonalized replicated website and more. This software is web-based and can be accessed through the internet (no programs/discs are needed to be downloaded ? an email will be sent to you with instructions on how to set-up your webpage once the software has been paid for). The Pet Consultant locator on the Shure Pets website (shurepets.com) is up and running (under the Products page and the ?Get Info? page). New customers, interested Pet Party attendees/hosts and leads can locate your replicated website via the Pet Consultant locater through searching by location, Pet Consultant ID# or Name. This tool will help bring potential customers/leads/hosts and Pet Consultants together in a quicker, more efficient manner. Please note, only those active Pet Consultants who have purchased the backend software system and set up their replicated websites will be included in the Pet Consultant locator. The Pet Consultant locater is updated once a week (with new Pet Consultant?s webpage links and changes made to current URL addresses). To sign up for the Shure Pets software (and to be included in the Pet Consultant locator) please email kristina.meyer@shurepets.com and let us know how you would like to pay for a year of the software ($30.00). (There are no refunds on the software once it has been purchased).

    Shure Pets In The News

Stephanie Pet Consultant of the Month: Stephanie A. (#743)

Stephanie A. (#743 Geneva, IL) confesses, "I don't actually have a pet in my townhouse, but I do visit Bernie or Stormy, two horses who love to be spoiled! I love animals and as a pet photographer, I am always photographing pets and wildlife. My daughters have a black Labrador (Pepper) at their dad's house and I sometimes find myself "pet-sitting" her. I hope to one day own a Hungarian Vizsla or a Rottweiler!"

"I heard about Shure Pets when I researched many topics relating to the pet industry. I just adore animals and really like seeing how pet owners show a little "schmoopsie" with their animals. I considered being a pet food distributor (franchise) and a pet store owner in a small town or strip mall. After long research and being discouraged with the amount of money it would take to start those businesses, I finally looked to direct selling. I found Shure Pets' Web site in the Direct Selling Association's (DSA) member directory on their website. From there, I simply filled out the "contact us" form on the site and made "shure" to find the right mentors to help me get started. Thanks, Sandy T. (#148 Seabrook, NH) and Valerie T. (#292 Kingston, IL). I am proud to say that I'm coming up on my one-year anniversary with Shure Pets on September 1, 2006!"

"I started my business knowing that I was going to learn so much about direct selling, the pet industry, and to put to the test my interest in public speaking. I work a full-time job, which means I had to figure out a way to make my at-home business work with my spare time ... and with two young school-age girls? I had to make some changes at home and simply got my kids involved. They help me prepare guest packets for parties, bag doggie treats as giveaways at banks, or just hang out with me at dog shows and fundraisers. My goal is to make Shure Pets my full-time source of income and have the flexibility to be at home when my girls get home from school. My other goal is to become a better leader so that I can help others achieve their dreams of success and achievement. Okay, I have a third goal, which is to earn an incentive trip and take my girls with me!"

"By being a Pet Consultant, I learned that I can approach anyone who has a pet and start talking to them about what I love doing ... I love listening to them talk about their pets, and to share my opportunity about Shure Pets. I always have my business cards in my back pocket no matter where I go! There is a really nice saying I live by: JUST ASK! To break the ice with folks who have pets with them, I simply ask them what type of dog they have. Usually, I see the proud gleam in their eyes and our conversation just takes off! My next question is, "Would you or anyone you know be interested in having a pet party?" There has always been terrific response to learning what a pet party en-tails. And depending on the answer, I have made new friends, given them my business card and hopefully have a phone number to contact them to follow up. To make my Pet Parties more successful, I work with my host to help him or her "over-invite" the number of guests to their pet party. At the party itself, I try and demo products that have a great story and an intriguing price tag. What a great response I get from my audiences!"

"With respect to building my Shure Pets team, I am happy to have three wonderful team members. While I'd love to add more, I'd like to make sure they are successful, too. Every month, there is some sort of fundraiser, pet expo, dog walk, dog show and I invite each member to join me. I believe that mentoring is a great way to show my team members how to talk about their own businesses. I really don't talk about money so much as just personal achievement and recognition. Someone very special to me reminds me often, "If you are doing what you LOVE, the money will come in time!" Deb, Tracy and Pat, thank you for being on the team. I am proud to be a member of the Best in Show team. I have met in person or electronically so many members of this fantastic team and their advice to me is golden. They have worked so hard to get where they are now and I respect our team leaders highly."

"Finally, all Shure Pets Consultants, especially I, would not be successful if it were not for the dedication of the home office team (The Pound) and founders Andrew Shure and Caillou (yes, Caillou ... grins). Their day-to- day dedication and hard work allows us to be successful. The blue ribbon goes out to all of you. Thanks!"

    Shure Pets Barks of Approval

"I have the bug spray/sunscreen (#141) and I LOVE IT!!! My poor Dusty gets his nose eaten up so bad by those flies and I have gone to the vet for creams for it and it was regularly around $24 for just a small 6 oz. bottle. You do have to reapply regularly with the Shure Pets brand but it is so worth it! It was the first thing I ordered out of the book like the next day after I looked through it." -Laura S. (#795 Nevada, OH).

"My kit arrived tonight at 7:00 PM!! I immediately opened up the box and the funniest thing happened. My cat, Bailey, jumped into the box and began clawing at the paper. He found the platy-cat (#517) toy and went berserk with it!!! He was biting it, and rolling all around the table. I tried to take it away from him and he wouldn?t let me. Since the tote bag was lying next to the toy, he is now rolling around on that too. So, I guess it is safe to say that I have my first ?testimonial? from my very own cat!!! The products all look wonderful and I cannot wait to get started. Thanks for the awesome "New Puppy on the Block Kit!" -Teresa M. (#1280 Spring, TX).

"We?ve been having extreme heat here in Southern California and my friend?s air conditioning went out. When I got there yesterday, her dogs were panting so hard I was afraid they would overheat. I then went to my car and got out the purr-fect pet towel (#410) from my supply of products that I show. I soaked it in cold water and put it over each dog for awhile. My friend kept up the ?treatment? overnight. I just checked and she said it really helped them a lot. New she?s going to buy two. Thanks for such a wonderful product....I take Mickey to a dog wash so I can do it myself. First time I used the Emu Oil Shampoo (#132), wonderful-- fluffy coat, shiny, just great. Second time I used Oatmeal Shampoo (#116)-- again wonderful, fluffy coat. Third time I used their shampoo just for comparison. Oh my, his coat was so dull and awful, he started scratching like crazy for about two weeks. I took him back again and used Emu Oil AND Oatmeal Shampoos- - ahhhh, much better." Gayellen D. (#816 Simi Valley, CA).

?Awesome software, I can?t wait to go live! Thanks to all the Shure Pets team.? -Teresa M. (#1280 Spring, TX).

?As a former programmer, who knows what it takes to write such a [backend software] system, high praise! I?m a very new consultant, and can?t wait to get started!? -Kristine F. (#1093 Saline, MI).

?I am excited to use the new site; and I?m sooooo thankful that you are there to help! Thanks, and happy tails to all!!? -Joy B. (#1076 Belding, MI).

    Purr-fect Pet Questions and Answers

How do I stop my dog from chewing everything? When your canine is chewing something that they are not supposed to, it is very important that you try to re-direct their attention to a toy that is their own. When your puppy begins to chew the correct toy or whatever the case may be, it is recommended that you give much praise so they know they are obeying you (paws-itive reinforcement). If a little persuasion is not successful, Shure Pets offers a bitter spray called ?Bitter Critter? (#125) which helps to reduce the amount of chewing and biting on non desired objects.

Why does my cat sometimes try to bury his food bowl? If you ever walk in on your cat trying to bury his food bowl, there may be a few different reasons for this kind of behavior. One could be that the cat may be unhappy with the kind of cat food or even the location of their dish. If this occurs, keep an eye on the cat and make "shure" they are eating and are happy with their dinner arrangements.

Why does my rabbit walk in circles inside his cage? If you happen to see your rabbit walking in circles inside their cage, this may be considered a sign to have the rabbit spayed or neutered. If either of these have already been done, it is usually a sign that the rabbit is in need of food or attention.
