    This year we broke all previous sales records and attracted a record number of new Pet Consultants to our business. I would like to acknowledge Sandy T. (#148 Seabrook, NH) and her team ?Best in Show? for their continued leadership. Since our backend software went live last summer, Sandy has increased her team with 16 new first generation Pet Consultants. Great job, Sandy!

    In 2006 we introduced a number of initiatives that we are proud of including: 1.) We increased our product line by over 35%, offering a full range of products for pets and pet lovers. 2.) We now have Pet Consultants located in all 50 states. 3.) The successful introduction of the backend software and purr-sonalized websites. 4.) Our in-stock and shipping positions are better and faster than ever. 5.) The introduction of our online fundraising programs (allowing for 24/7 ordering). We strongly believe that we need to constantly innovate and introduce new products and platforms in the years to come.

    I would also like to take this opportunity to wish each of you and your family a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Also, I would like to thank everyone at The Pound including David, Kristina, Sara, Michelle and, of course, Caillou for all their hard work over the last year.     Shure Pets, our signature At-Home Pet Parties and our unique product line were recently featured in the December issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.     Shure Pet's National Pet Party Across America 2.0 campaign had a grr-eat response and we are happy to report that we had a significant increase in activity and Pet Parties over the November 17- 19 weekend. As a result, Shure Pets will give back to those in need during the howl-iday season by donating a check to the ASPCA: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (http://www.aspca.org) for each Pet Party order submitted as a result of this successful promotion ($2.50 for each Pet Party order submitted).

    Shure Pets University (SPU): Our Shure Pets University training program meets monthly at the Corporate Office in Chicago, Illinois. This seminar serves as a platform to discuss Shure Pets and trends in the Direct Selling and Pet Industries, as well as offering tips to help you grow, develop and maintain your business. All Pet Consultants are invited and encouraged to attend SPU. If you cannot make a Shure Pets University session but are in the Chicago area and would like to meet "The Pound", please call or email info@shurepets.com to schedule an appointment.

    SPUs are held on the first Tuesday of the month. Start 2007 on the right paw by attending a Shure Pets University Training Program held on:

    • Tuesday, January 9 (please note date change due to the New Year howl-iday).
    • Tuesday, February 6.

    Conference Calls: All Tuesdays (outside of the first Tuesday of the Month which is reserved for SPU) conference calls occur for Pet Consultants to participate in and share ideas with each other and the Shure Pets Pound.

    • The 2nd Tuesday of the Month's Conference Call is for all new Pet Consultants
    • The 3rd Tuesday is open for all Pet Consultants and
    • The 4th Tuesday is scheduled for our Leadership Committee.
    For December, the 3rd Tuesday (the 19th) is reserved for the Leadership Committee Conference Call due to the Christmas Howl-iday the following week. Space is limited so please RSVP to kristina.meyer@shurepets.com to sign up for your informative Conference Call session.

    Ulti-mutt Product Invention Contest: Shure Pets is looking for unique products to put in future Cat-alogs. If you, or someone you know, has created a pet product and would like to have it sold under the Shure Pets name, tell them to visit http://www.shurepets.com/invention.html and complete the entry form contest details. Entries must be received by February 28, 2007.

    Grrr-eat Start Program: Through our Grrr-eat Start Program for our New Pet Consultant Puppies: In the first ten days of your business, if you sell $500 of Shure Pets products and book two upcoming Pet Parties (within the upcoming 30 days), you will earn a $75.00 credit towards any Shure Pets products and/or business supplies. Additionally, if you sell $1,200 of Shure Pets products and directly recruit one person, or more, in the first thirty days of your business, you will earn a Shure Pets T-shirt (small ? x-large) and cap. The ten or thirty days start on the day that you receive your ?New Puppy on the Block? Starter Kit.

    Autumn H. Pet Consultant of the Month: Autumn H. (#1333)
    Profile of Success!

    Autumn H. (#1333 Anchorage, AK) is the proud owner of Paris (a 15 month old black Great Dane who weighs around 130 lbs. and stands over six feet tall), two geriatric lovebirds named Peaches and Kiwi (19 years old) and a five foot ball python named Creepy (six years old - "named because she is pretty creepy looking"!) Additionally, she has a 30 gallon salt water tank filled with various salt fish. Autumn states, "I found out about Shure Pets while searching the Internet for pet products. I have been a Pet Consultant for a few months. I think Shure Pets is a great way to get to know other pet lovers and to work at your own pace. I hope to become more active with my business when I graduate from college in the spring."

    "I have met many wonderful people along the way of my Shure Pets business. I have also enjoyed pampering my spoiled Great Dane with all the fantastic products! I have obtained success by getting involved with the pet community and attending many pet events. I also take my dog wherever I go and she draws a lot of attention which I use to my benefit.     The December Featured Products of the Month are: Life Bowl, Fleece Hat and Note Pads.

    Life Bowl (#622) - can help save your pet's life by slowing down the pace in which the companion animal eats and drinks. Life Bowl includes a handle in the middle to minimize gulping and excessive air intake. Grrr-eat for aggressive eaters, reducing the risk of bloat (affecting over 35 dog breeds) and vomiting.     Purr-fect Pet Health Tips

    Why should I brush my canine's teeth? Dogs, just like human beings, can have teeth problems and they can get cavities. Their teeth should be cleaned at least twice a week. Feeding your dog dry dog food and giving him plenty of hard bones to chew is one way to help keep his teeth healthier. Two common problems dogs with poor dental hygiene have, are loose and abscess teeth. Studies show that up to 98% of dogs with bad breath suffer from periodontal disease, a result of plaque build up. If it is left untreated, it can lead to a bacteria infection, which can enter the bloodstream and spread to your dog's kidney, liver, heart and even their brain. Chances are if your dog has very bad breath, there is a problem with his teeth. Make "Shure" your pet has happy teeth!

    Is milk acceptable for my cat to drink? Kittens drink their mother's milk while they are nursing. It is full of the fat and protein that they need to rapidly grow and survive. Cats and kittens can drink cow's milk occasionally, but they do not need to drink it. A cat can easily live its whole life without ever having cow's milk (in fact, most feral or wild cats never have cow's milk). Like humans, many cats and kittens are lactose intolerant. They cannot digest cow's milk properly and they get diarrhea or gastric upset when they drink it.

    How do I remove tangles from my horse's mane and/or tail? Dirt is the primary cause of tangles in your horse's mane and tail. To make removing tangles easier, thoroughly wash the mane and tail with a shampoo, followed by a conditioner. Using a metal comb or hair brush, start at the bottom of the hair and slowly work up to gently comb out the tangles and mats.
